Learning outcomes |
In this CU it is intended that the student complements his studies in Organic Chemistry in relation to some concepts not yet analyzed in CU previous. Know how to use the concept of protective group. Elucidate the importance of natural and synthetic polymers. Use carbohydrates in synthesis of molecules with biological activity. Analyze heterocyclic compounds as a function of the number of heteroatoms. Complement the concept of natural product. Analyze organic compounds by spectroscopy.
Competencies: Realize that it is possible to carry out certain reactions using groups protectors. Know applications of polymeric compounds. Know the characteristic reactions of carbohydrates. Identify the different compoundsheterocyclic. Discover new natural products with biological activity and know how to synthesize them. Use the concepts of spectroscopy to characterize the structures of natural and synthetic organic compounds.

Teaching Methodologies and Assessment Criteria |
This CU is divided into theoretical classes and laboratory classes. In the theoretical classes, the syllabus will be taught according to the established. The contents are provided to students in advance, in e-learnig, allowing students to have a prior knowledge of the subject to be taught. In the Master classes will be asked to students to participate to show knowledge. In the laboratory classes, synthesis topics will be proposed chemistry and extraction of natural products for students to research protocols for their laboratory realization.
The evaluation will be continuous, partial tests are carried out on the subject of the theoretical classes and at the end an exam. In laboratory classes, the evaluation will be carried out according to the research of protocols, realization of practical work and the respective report, being an evaluation questionnaire was carried out at the end.
Assessment: 75% partial tests + 25% laboratory classes.
