Learning outcomes In this curricular unit, it is intended that the student structure knowledge about the various manufacturing processes, recognize the different manufacturing processes and associated equipment, their mechanisms and parameters that affect quality, their potential and limitations in the face of different types of materials and differentiate the type of process according to the characteristics of the parts/components/structures to be obtained.
At the end of the Curricular Unit, the student should be able to analyze the most appropriate technological process to obtain a part, and demonstrate through calculations the feasibility of the processes as well as the design of the tools.
Syllabus Quality Control in Mechanical Manufacturing.
Heat treatments.
Finishing and coating processes
Cutting Processes: press cutting, saw, water jet, laser, oxygen cutting.
Subtractive manufacturing processes: milling, turning, drilling, electro-discharge machining.
Additive manufacturing processes: Deposition, Laser Sintering, Lithography
Plastic Forming and Metallurgy Processes: Stamping, rolling, drawing, forging, extrusion, thermoforming of plastics; blow molding;
Casting Processes: Casting; Plastic injection; Gravity molding of resins.
Powder forming and sintering processes.
Composite production processes: Manual molding; RTM; Infusion; Filament winding; pultrusion; autoclave.
Bonding processes: Welding processes; Riveting; bolted joint; Glued joints.
