Learning outcomes This unit aims to give master students the confidence and the structure for creating and conducting their own project. Through experimenting with different tasks and activities students develop capacity and consciousness needed for researching & developing, as well as, structuring and producing their own project. Develop confidence and technical knowhow in using cameras and working with photography equipment within the ambient of fashion and its production. Develop the mindset and thinking required as a photographer, with the capacity to observe, reflect and identify relevant themes and movements in contemporary culture. Develop analytic capacity in in understanding a photo in technical terms (lights, composition, angle, speed, shutter size, etc. ). Develop an independent and project minded approach to creation of content with photography including: plan, systemize, conduct different activities and investigations towards accomplishing predefined goal, or statement.
Syllabus Part 1 - Introduction to photography as a way capturing time and moment, as a way of telling a story. Learning through experience. Learning about the camera as tool and how to use any camera. Part 2 – capturing time and moment in the context of events. Looking for, finding and capturing the moment. Making portraits, working with the camera like a journalist – capturing the action. Part 3- daily feed, working with the camera to narrate a story, to make diaries and develop the sensibility needed in order to transform a series of photos into a meaningful story. Part 4 – production of photoshoot, learning to capture products (fashion and accessories) in professional settings. Learning to work in the photography studio. Part 5- doing your own thing. Developing your own rules for the game, defining what you want and structuring and panning how you will get there, while also looking forward into the relationship between the photo and the public.
