Learning outcomes Throughout the semester, students are expected to deepen their understanding of a set of historical-artistic concepts, aiming for a profound comprehension of the various currents from the 18th century to the present day (Contemporary Age), and to develop the necessary skills, in terms of knowledge and critical thinking, to relate the influence of Art on the various creative expressions of contemporaneity.
The learning objectives of this CU involve the following skills:
1. Observation and critical analysis of contemporary works of art;
2. Association between artists and works with corresponding artistic styles and movements;
3. Identification and association of historical events as the driving force behind contemporary artistic movements;
4. Completion and presentation of research/creation projects, developed in groups, meeting the established parameters;
5. Identification of influences of contemporary artistic currents in other expressive domains.
Syllabus An age of transformations;
Transitions in the 20th century: from pictorial impression to bodily expression;
Cinema in the first half of the 20th century;
Wars and their impact on the arts;
Art and society in the post-war period;
The century of the ego and the death of the object and the author;
Cybernetic society and emerging artistic expressions;
Art, image, and visual culture of the 21st century;
The concept of gender in contemporary art.
