This Curricular Unit intends to familiarize students with some of the techniques used in remote sensing, as well as some of the basic tools and principles of digital mapping, complementing the acquired in previous CUs. It is the main objective to provide students with autonomy to deepen the knowledge acquired in the classes, in order to be able to collect information from remote sensing sources, to preparation and cartographic presentation. At the end of the CU, students should have acquired the following skills, as well as the ability to autonomously to deepen them: (a) Understand the fundamental concepts and techniques and principles of operation from various sources of remote sensing data, as well as techniques and forms of production of digital cartography. (b) Domain of nuclear features in remote sensing. (c) Domain of forms of production of digital cartography.
