Students who complete this course successfully will be able to: 1. Have knowledge on the legislation that is applicable to Cybersecurity in Portugal. 2. Have knowledge on cybernetics laws, legal considerations, and regulations, in effect, and future, in Portugal and Europe 3. Have knowledge on the best practices for cyber-Hygiene. 4. Have knowledge on the main cybersecurity risks in different environments. 5. Have knowledge on the Internet main technologies, and research methodologies. 6. Have knowledge on the digital technologies and how computers and electronic devices work

1. Legislation applied to Cybersecurity a. Relevant national organizations in the cybesecurity landscape. b. Laws, regulations, and good practices for data protection. c. Relevant laws and regulations for cybersecurity.
2. Introduction to Cybernetics a. Cybernetics terminology. b. Cryptography. c. Digital signatures. d. National and european regulations (GDPR, NIS1 and NIS2). e. European mechanisms (eIDAS).
3. Introduction to cyber-hygiene a. Good practices. b. Concepts of information security. c. Regulations, procedures for utilization of information technologies. d. Information security policies.
4. Digital technologies a. Informatics. b. Data and information storage. c. Databases. d. The Internet and its definitions. e. Research strategias and knowlege methodologies. f. Teaching Methodologies and Assessment Criteria |
Teaching theory and practice, with 9 sessions corresponding to 35 hours of contact, with a practical-theoretical component (13 hours), a practical component (13 hours), and an orientation component (9 hours). Practical-theoretical classes are designed to expose and discuss the main programmatic contents, encouraging interactivity and questioning. The practical component is further explored through the realization of practical exercises in some of the sessions.
