Learning outcomes Analyze Portuguese literature from classical period.
By the end of the Semester, the student must be able to:
- recognize the literary trends of the XVI century;
- identify the major works and authors of the Portuguese Renaissance literature;
- read, analyze and comment on different literary Renaissance texts.
Syllabus . The Renaissance in Portugal and in Europe.
2. Gil Vicente's theater.
3. The poetry of Sá de Miranda.
4. The sentimental narrative Menina e Moça, of Bernardim Ribeiro.
5. Luís Vaz de Camões: epic and lyric poetry.

Teaching Methodologies and Assessment Criteria The methodologies are subject to exposure and content application classes, using New Technologies, whenever appropriate; by discussion and reflection on
texts; and individual work.
The students will be evaluated periodically in two moments of the semester, through the accomplishment of two written tests.
