Learning outcomes |
1. Introduce an interconnective perspective of several thematic axes that revolve around Humanism in Portugal and Spain. 2. Display, in a contextual and comparative perspective, the general tables of the Iberian Discoveries in the 15th and 16th centuries. 3. Understand the European dimension of Humanism and how much the Iberian Discoveries shaped it. 4. Identify important figures of Humanism and the Iberian Discoveries, as well as knowing their paths and works/accomplishments. 5. Highlight Latin as the vehicular language par excellence of Humanism, without forgetting the process of the rise of vernacular languages. 6. Highlight the importance of the Castilian language in Modern Portugal. 7. Describe the mutations produced by the phenomenon of the Iberian Expansion within the framework of the Modern World. 8. Sharpen cognitive abilities. 9. Develop practical work.

Teaching Methodologies and Assessment Criteria |
Teaching methods: lectures; research works; oral and written reflections, based on texts provided or indicated by the teacher about the programmatic topics covered; use of audiovisual resources; using the Moodle platform.
Written test: 75%. Group work: 20% = written version 15% + presentation 5%. Participation in class: 5%. Attendance: 50% of classes. Access to exam period: at least 6 points. Special evaluation (TE): according to the ongoing legislation.
