1.3. The notion of corpus in Historical Linguistics.
1.4. Historical Linguistics and History of Language.
2. History of Portuguese language training.
2.1. From romanization to the formation of Hispanic novels.
2.2. The birth of Portuguese.
3. Medieval Portuguese: characterization and description.
4. Classical Portuguese: characterization and description.
5. Modern Portuguese: current trends.

Teaching Methodologies and Assessment Criteria Classes will have a theoretical-practical character, with completely practical sessions, namely historical-linguistic analysis of texts remaining from the past.
Assessment:
- 2 written tests (40% each);
- 1 critical review of a theoretical text (10%);
- 1 old text analysis (10%).
Language Portuguese. Tutorial support is available in English.
