Learning outcomes	Analyse Portuguese literature from medieval period. By the end of the Semester, the student must be able to: - recognize the main historical and cultural characteristics of the Middle Ages; - identify the most important literary modes of medieval Portuguese literature; - read, analyze and comment on different Portuguese medieval texts.
Syllabus	1. The Portuguese literature during the Middle Ages. 2. The Galician-Portuguese lyric. 2.1. "Cantigas de amigo", "de amor" and "escárnio e maldizer". 2.2. "Cantigas de Santa Maria". 3. The Portuguese medieval historiography: "Livros de Linhagens". 4. The medieval chronicles: the work of Fernão Lopes.
