Learning outcomes |
At the end of the semester, the student should be able to: - Know the geographic spaces where Portuguese-speaking literature is practiced outside Portugal; - Be aware of the (un)knowledge of a literary universe in Portuguese outside Portugal; - Find out about awards that reward Portuguese-speaking literature; - Discuss the proportionality of the geographic distribution of those awarded for such awards (Camões Prize, above all); - Problematize the origin of literatures written with colonial beginnings (Portuguese); - Know the progressive autonomization of literary tendencies in Brazil and in the PALOP in relation to the dominant movements of the former metropolis; - Know the main trends and names of contemporary literature in Brazil and in the PALOP; - Deepen knowledge of literary diversity within the CPLP space from the study of works by selected authors; - Recognize the diversity and richness of Portuguese-speaking literature by non-Portuguese authors.

1. Introduction: the (un)known literary Lusophony in Brazil, PALOP and Timor-Lorosae. 2. Brazilian literature 2.1 Literary manifestations in the colonial period. 2.2 Romanticism and Realism in the 19th century: José de Alencar and Machado de Assis. 2.3 Maturity and originality of Brazilian 20th century literature: Carlos Drummond de Andrade, Vinicius de Moraes, Jorge Amado and Guimarães Rosa. 3. Portuguese-speaking African and Timorese literature 3.1. Oral literature: cultural characteristics and functionality. 3.2 Colonial literature: borders and differences in relation to African literatures. 3.3. Teaching Methodologies and Assessment Criteria |
Each point of the program begins with a theoretical exposition led by the teacher to clarify contexts, concepts or works, based on materials prepared or advised by the teacher, in order to guide students and develop relevant participation in them. During the analysis of the selected texts, the classes continue to have a theoretical-practical aspect, providing the teacher with clues that call for the pertinent contribution of all students and the dispelling of doubts. The dynamic teacher-student discussion of literary texts deepens their ability to analyze them and encourages the enjoyment of literary Lusophony. The assessment, discussed at the beginning of the semester, includes oral presentations of selected authors and works, the delivery of a written work at the end of the semester, in addition to valuing the active participation of students in classes.
