The objective is to enable the definition of operational concepts for an understanding of sociological discourse. In this sense, we start from a general approach to Sociology, to a specific approach to the Sociology of Art as a constituent of a Sociology of Culture. From the study and discussion of selected themes, we aim for students to acquire theoretical knowledge that allows them to contextualize the particularities of sociological discourse. In this way, we seek to enable students to assess, through a critical evaluation, the importance of this knowledge for the understanding and practice of the sociology of culture. Students should acquire basic theoretical and substantive knowledge in this area, demonstrating mastery of the issues, theses and concepts addressed. In summary: In this Curricular Unit, we aim to awaken in students a spirit of discovery of sociological paradigms in the area of ??culture and the recognition of theoretical coherence.
