Learning outcomes |
Upon completion of the Unit, students should be able to: - Apply basic construction processes for building on raw earth. - Apply physical and/or chemical stabilization methods, granulometric correction and soil preparation. - Apply soil stabilization and correction methods. - Use construction equipment and tools in Taipa and BTC. - Explore, with relevance and creativity, some of the aesthetic characteristics of coloring with natural pigments. - Build, as a team, a project for a simple piece (street furniture, for example) in raw earth.

Syllabus |
1. Development and construction of a Final Project, applying previously acquired knowledge. • Soil analysis: granulometry, plasticity and composition. • Preparation: excavation, drying and screening. • Correction and stabilization: cement, lime and bitumen. • Pigmentation. • Manual and mechanical compaction. • Use of molds and formwork. • Practical construction procedures. 2. Presentation, discussion and evaluation of the Final Project.
