With the increasing number of travellers worldwide, over 1.3 billion in 2023, according to the UNWTO, it is essential to strengthen health prevention in the context of travel. Contact with unfamiliar environments, climates, and pathogens poses significant health risks to travellers. Travel Medicine promotes a preventive approach before, during, and after travel. General Practitioners are strategically positioned to provide personalised clinical counselling in this field. This course aims to: understand the concept and implications of travel medicine; recognise the role of healthcare professionals in traveller protection; identify risks associated with international travel; acknowledge prevention as a strategy to reduce health risks; and tailor counselling to the destination and individual profile of the traveller.
