Learning outcomes |
The aim is for students to learn the fundamentals and apply psychological intervention and assessment techniques to older adults from a psychogerontological perspective. Students should:. Discuss and apply theoretical constructs and models to the study and intervention in old age.. Characterize psychological development in old age. . Perform comprehensive geriatric assessments and psychological evaluations of older adults.. Apply, in a well-founded manner, methods, techniques, and programs of psychological intervention in old age.. Demonstrate interpersonal skills with older adults.. Consult and critically analyze scientific information on issues inherent to psychological practice and research in old age. . Demonstrate skills for working in multidisciplinary intervention teams in old age.. Prepare students to develop interventions in educational and counseling contexts with older adults and/or intergenerational groups.

Teaching Methodologies and Assessment Criteria |
The teaching and learning activities included in this course unit include the following activities: - Survey and systematization of knowledge. - Discussion and analysis of cases. - Discussion and analysis of documents. - Role-playing exercises. - Preparation of database searches focused on specific content. - Individual and group work. - Presentations/theoretical systematization.
The parameters considered in the assessment of this course unit are: - Knowledge and skills developed in the field of psychogerontology. - Application of knowledge to clinical cases. - Skills in assessing older people. - Development of psychological intervention plans with older people. - Research, exploration, and critical analysis skills in scientific production in the field of psychogerontology.
