This Course Unit aims to study the design characteristics, operating principle and main applications of less conventional electrical machines (brushless permanent magnets and reluctance motor drives, Permanent magnet synchronous motors and Line-Started Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motors). At the end of the Curricular Unit, the student must be able to select when and where to use the studied electric motors, always in contrast with the solutions taught in the UCs on electrical machines and electrical drives.
