Entry requirements Approval of the PhD Thesis Project and of Thesis I.
Learning outcomes The objective of this course unit is to develop the experimental work, in accordance with the approved Thesis Project, ensuring scientific rigour and adherence to deadlines. The aim is to equip students with the skills to develop autonomous, high-quality research, with a focus on sustainable and resilient solutions, technologies, and products to address environmental and digital challenges in cities and territories.

Expected outcomes and skills:
- Apply research methods and techniques in fieldwork, laboratory work, mathematical modelling, and data analysis.
- Develop critical thinking and the ability to interpret results.
- Draft articles for publication and papers for presentation at events.
- Enhanced ability to plan and execute a research project, including the effective management of time, resources, and data.
- Ability to apply results to real-world problems.
Syllabus Development of the work planned in the PhD Thesis Project, including data analysis and validation of results.
Expected results: A set of collected and analysed data, partial drafting of the Thesis and scientific articles, and dissemination of results at technical and scientific events.
Main Bibliography The bibliography for this course unit depends on the specific research topic. It essentially includes a combination of scientific journal articles, books, and works published or presented at technical and scientific events, which will be obtained from bibliographic databases or provided by the supervisors so that students acquire the knowledge for the development of the PhD Thesis.

Students will have access to bibliographic databases and the digital research means available in the UBI libraries, to obtain bibliography relevant to their research topic.
Teaching Methodologies and Assessment Criteria The assessment is qualitative and based on a report from the supervisor which awards, or not, the 60 ECTS for the course unit "Thesis II".
Language Portuguese. Tutorial support is available in English.
