Learning outcomes - To discuss the importance of education as a social organisation;
- To look at current education policies in the light of globalisation, transnationalisation and territorialisation/municipalisation policies;- To reflect on the application of educational policies and practices in national and local contexts;
- To interpret the legal framework that regulates the current Portuguese education system;
- To analyse relevant research in the field of Educational Policies and Educational Organisation.
- To express ideas in a reasoned manner, using oral and written communication;
- To deepen research skills;
- To develop collaborative working skills;
- To commit to quality education.
Syllabus 1. Introductory Issues: Education and Society. The centrality of school education in contemporary societies. The future of the school as apublic good;
2. Concept of Education Policy; Meaning, framework and approaches; Horizon of current education policies: Globalisation andTransnationalisation of Education; European and World Education Policies: Guidelines and actors;
3. Organisation of the current Portuguese education system. Structuring documents (LBSE, PASEO, ENEC, AE); School autonomy andbuilding educational communities: school or cluster management bodies and guiding documents. The involvement of parents and students.The student statute and school ethics; Curriculum flexibility and management; Inclusive education. Evaluation of schools and schoolclusters.
