Learning outcomes - Develop practical skills in conducting experimental tests for mechanical characterization of materials. - Familiarize students with the main techniques and equipment used in the mechanical testing laboratory for analyzing the mechanical behavior of materials under different types of loads. - Develop skills in processing, critically analyzing, and interpreting experimental data, as well as the ability to prepare detailed scientific reports on the tests conducted. - Promote the application of theoretical concepts related to the mechanics of materials.
Syllabus 1. Monotonic Tests: Tension, Compression, and Bending Tests with controlled temperature 2. Digital Image Correlation (DIC) 3. Cyclic Load/Unload Tests: effects of work hardening; residual stiffness; hysteresis 4. Fatigue Tests 5. Creep and Stress Relaxation Tests 6. Interlaminar Shear Tests 7. Hardness Tests 8. Morphological Characterization of Metals
Main Bibliography Experimental protocols available on Moodle. Standards available on Moodle.
Teaching Methodologies and Assessment Criteria The entirety of the evaluation for this course unit involves delivering a report (REL) and the final presentation and discussion (AP) of the technical report before a panel of judges. The evaluation criteria include: Structure and Organization; Clarity and Objectivity; Technical Content; Data Presentation; References and Citations; Originality and Proposed Solutions; Graphic Presentation; Conclusion and Relevance. The final grade is given by: FREQ = 0,6xREL p 0,4xAP The CU do not have exam
