Learning outcomes --This course unit aims to convey the basic principles of human nutrition and the principles for planning and evaluating the diet of healthy individuals at different life stages and special physiological situations. At the end of UC students should be able to: 1. Know the basics of healthy eating 2. Know the most common food mistakes and their consequences on metabolic level 3. Describe the different approaches to correct eating disorders 4. Analyze existing evidence on the interest of so-called dietary supplements and functional foods in terms of efficacy and safety
Syllabus 1. General Nutricion 2. Energy needs and metabolism. Weight control mechanism. 3. Common errors in healthy eating 4. Common food myths 5. Diet therapy in diabetes, Dyslipidaemia, hypertension, hyperuricemia, renal insufficiency 6. Ethical drugs for obesity 7. Food supplements 8. Functional Food 9. Food in pregnancy
