Mode of delivery face-to-face
Learning outcomes Acquire the knowledge for the integrated design of an electromechanical system, by developing analysis and synthesis capabilities in an undefined and uncertain environment.
Describe the design methodology of electromechanical components and to inter-relate the knowledge acquired on course of the curriculum. Fundamental knowledge of software as an auxiliary design tool. To be able to integrate an electromechanical desing team and to perform, under supervision, components of an electromechanical project in accordance with current standards and normalized procedures. To complement the knowledge on electric machines and mechanical design.
Syllabus 1. Introduction to the Engineering project: Definition of the engineering project. The Pahl and Pugh model for the engineering design procedure. Design of electromechanical systems. Life cycle of the design procedure. 2. Formulation of the problem: Definition of the problem. Creation of project specifications. 3. Information and communication: Ways of presenting technical information (oral, written, graphic). Dynamics of project groups. 4. Project planning: Principles and concepts of planning. Gantt diagrams. Critical path methods. 5. Decision-making methods and project economics: Multicriteria analysis. Hierarchical analysis. Economic decision rules. Cost estimation. 6. Design, as a team, an electromechanical system. Integration of multidisciplinary knowledge. Design of control circuits. Design of simple mechanical components. Selection, and integration, of components based on catalogs.
