Develop a dissertation with scientific rigor about a given topic
Scientifically master the chosen subject of the MA dissertation at the moment of completion
Participate in congresses and magazines taking advantage of the skills acquired. At the end of the unit, students should be able to:
- scientifically master the chosen subject of the MA dissertation at the moment of completion;
- defend arguments supported in the MA dissertation; -
- participate in national and international congresses, magazines, workshops or cultural events, and disclose the subject matter developed in the dissertation or taking advantage of the skills acquired during this second cycle;
- publish essays or books from the scientific skills acquired in the preparation and defense of the dissertation.
Syllabus 1. The search for identity and the national destiny in the post-25 April portuguese narrative.
2. Phenomenological approach of the literary text.
3. Fundamental rules towards the interpretation of a film or a picture.
4. Typological distinction and characterization of the marginal literature genres.
5. Importance of classic mythology and rhetoric.
6. Approach to the Greek-Latin Antiquity's narrative fiction and drama.
7. Writing, public reading and libraries.
8. Idiosyncrasies of the Lusophone cultures of Angola, Mozambique, Cape-Verde, Sao-Tome and Guinea.
9. History of the Romance languages.
10. Literary relations between Spain and Portugal within the framework of poetry, narrative and drama.
11. Complexity of the Spanish cultural melting pot.
12. Idiosyncrasies of North America's literature.
13. Particularities of the English and Irish contemporary literatures.
