Do you want to study at UBI?

Check how to proceed step-by-step:

Step 1. Verify with your home University International Relations Office (IRO) if your University has a signed inter-institutional agreement (IIA) with University of Beira Interior for your field of study.

Step 2. If your Home University confirms that an IIA has been signed, please apply at your Home University for a mobility period at the University of Beira Interior. Your IRO will be providing you the information if mobility grants are available). If you are selected, your Home University needs to nominate you to us by email, to inter@ubi.pt, indicating your first and last name, period of mobility, cycle of studies and contact.

Step 3. Once your nomination is received at UBI, you will receive, in your email, the credentials to access the Online Application Form on UBI’s internal online platform. Please insert your data and complete the Learning Agreement. Please verify our academic offer and international options here, print the Learning Agreement, sign it and email it to your Home University IRO asking for the signature of the Erasmus+ Institutional Representative. Application deadlines must be respected. The conditions and deadlines to submit the application are established by the University of Beira Interior on UBI’s Factsheet for International Partners which has been made available to your Home University IRO.

Step 4. Once duly signed by all parties, please email us the Learning Agreement along with the following copies of the documents:

Step 5. If documentation is in order, the University of Beira Interior will be issuing your Acceptance Letter with the dates of your stay and course you will be taking. Only with that documentation you can buy your trip and prepare the logistics to come study at UBI (accommodation, flights, etc.). You can only present yourself at UBI for a mobility period if an Acceptance Letter is issued and duly signed.

Please note that some foreign nationalities need to apply, in advance, for a Visa. Please review if that’s your case by checking this website and by contacting the closest Portuguese consular representation to you. SEF, the Portuguese Immigration and Border Services also provides information on entries in Portugal.

Step 6. Before your departure to Covilhã, do not forget to bring:

  • Acceptance Letter
  • ID card or Passport (if you are not an EU citizen)
  • European Health Insurance Card or a private medical insurance (if you are not an EU citizen) or PB4 for Brazilian citizens
  • Visa (verify if in your case is needed by checking the link above)
  • Confirmation of Accommodation

Step 7. After your arrival to Covilhã:

  • visit the Internationalization and Cooperation Office so that you receive your documentation (Welcome Kit, Declaration of Stay, Student card, among other information);
  • Meet with your Mobility Coordinator. He/She/They will be the person who will guide you at the Faculty and help you change your initial Learning Agreement (if necessary)
  • Go to classes and meet your colleagues
  • Explore Covilhã, the city that welcomes you, and the region of Serra da Estrela!
  • Have fun with AAUBI’s Students Union and ESN-Covilhã’s events organized throughout the year!

Step 8. Before you leave UBI, you need to come to the Internationalization and Cooperation Office (GIC), one day before, to obtain your Declaration of Stay signed with the date you leave.

Step 9. Once your marks are published, we will be emailing you and your Home University IRO your Transcript of Records.
