Covilhã as a University Campus

The University of Beira Interior is today a reference institution at national and international level, in the fields of teaching, research, innovation and entrepreneurship. It is one of the 150 best institutions of higher education in the world according to the Times Higher Education (THE) Young University Rankings, which analyzes and classifies academies founded less than 50 years ago.

Considered a university city, UBI integrates more than 7,000 students in a region of 52, 000 people, where cultural diversity predominates, having more than 40 nationalities.


Learning Spaces

The University has three Libraries. One in Polo I (Principal Library), one in the Faculty of Social Science and Humanities and other in the Faculty of Health Sciences. We have in the Principal Library a 24h Study Room. Every Library can loan books and documents, and has Private Study Rooms.


Faculties

The University is structured into Faculties, comprising the areas of knowledge which by nature, are related. Thus, the University of Beira Interior comprises five faculties: Faculty of Sciences, Faculty of Engineering, Faculty of Social Science and Humanities, Faculty of Arts and Letters and Faculty of Health Sciences.

Below, you will find a brief description of each one of them, indicating the main training areas that they encompass.

The structure of the University courses follows a three schema (years of degree), two (years of masters) and three (years of doctorate), and there are some cases of five and six years of basic training, designated “Integrated Masters”.

UBI saw recognized the excellence in the implementation of the diploma supplement with the award of the DS Label by the European Commission.
