Profile of the programme

1. To address the needs of management training, providing a current perspective and comprehensive knowledge in this area, accompanying the demands for a continuing update of scientific knowledge in management.
2. Provide a solid and updated training which enables the future graduate to exercise effective actions in different management contexts and enable him to develop research in various areas of management.
3. Train executives and managers of companies and other public or private institutions, with high technical capacity, to enable the development of skills necessary to strengthen the competitiveness of businesses and to face the challenges of the market.

Key learning outcomes

At the end of the course the student should be able to: i) Develop and apply the scientific method in management to solve problems; ii) Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of different themes and approaches to management; iii) Use techniques and methods for advanced analysis in management.

Learning facilities

The Department of Business and Economics is located at the Pole IV, University of Beira Interior (UBI) and it makes available to the entire academic community the following structures and equipments: - Library of Humanities and Social Sciences – Online bibliographic Databases: ISI Web of Knowledge Platform (Wok); Knowledge Library online (B-On), which has 3500 scientific journals of six publishers in full text; ProQuest database (main database of scientific articles from Management). - Access point to the INE (National Institute of Statistics) and the European Documentation Centre at the Central Library. –Computers Rooms with specialized software (SPSS, EViews, Amos, Microfit) and updated hardware. – Offices with Wireless and network points. - Bar and catering services. – Copy Center. - NECE and CEFAGE-UBI as research centers belonging to the University of Beira Interior, and funded by the Foundation for Science and Technology.
