Profile of the programme

The 2º cycle in Journalism aims to equip its graduates with general skills, common to any holder of a Master's degree, and specific skills that enable them to develop the journalistic activity on all type of media, regardless of the technology or platform used. In the context of specific skills, the course offers three types of skills: a) humanistic and cultural skills, providing a meaningful understanding of social phenomena, and political context of human relations. b) communication skills, offered by training courses in the area of Communication Science, c) professional skills , notably in the forms of expression of each media and genres that underlie journalistic production; d) technological skills, facilitated by contact with the latest journalism technologies . The course is directed primarily to graduates or professionals in the areas of Media and New Communication Technologies, but is also open to graduates in other areas. |
Key learning outcomes

At the end of the course students should be able to: - Mastering the techniques of collecting and selecting information, essential to a proper professional performance , as well as dominate the journalistic language and the technical tools of newspapers, radios, television or Internet. - Critically evaluate the surrounding socioeconomic and political reality , and know how to interpret it in the field of Communication Sciences - To produce accurate media messages, concise, contextualized, and able to meet the ethical principles of journalism - Understanding the scientific research in Journalism and have the capacity to undertake research in this area |

PRACTICE Television: Regie and Studio equipped with three digital cameras and teleprompter. Six kits composed by camera, tripod and enlightening. Radio: Studio and newsroom with twelve computers. Digital recorders for outside field work(?). Press and Web: Newsroom with 15 computers. Outdoor Kit with digital cameras for video /photography and digital sound recorders. RESEARCH Central Library with a specific area of journalism. Possibility of integration into ongoing research projects/programs in LABCOM |
