This course awards professional qualification for teaching Physics and Chemistry in the 3rd cycle of Basic Education and in Secondary Education. Accordingly it targets the development of the scientific proficiency and the pedagogical and didactic educational skills necessary for competent professional practice. |

The ability to: •Implement an effective educational practice integrating knowledge from vocational scientific areas with expertise in educational method. •Develop teaching that is appropriate for local, regional and national contexts. •Apply results of research in education to promote successful teaching. •Develop an aware, and consequently always updated, professional practice.

Learning facilities

Available learning support facilities include: 1.Extensive laboratory facilities for teaching in all areas of physics and chemistry, as well as more specific research laboratories, including research in chemistry such as Environment, Analytical, Biotechnology, Inorganic, Organic, Physical Chemistry and Microbiology. 2.Laboratories for research in physics such as Astronomy and Geophysics, Electromagnetics, Electronics, General and Experimental Physics, Digital Systems, Computational Physics, Atomic and Nuclear Physics, Technology, and contact lens Ocular Optics, Holography, Interferometry and Laser Diffraction, Photothermal Radiometry. 3.The main campus library with online access to databases including B-on and Web of Science, several computer rooms and wi-fi throughout the University with permanent internet access, and an e-learning platform with support for all education activities. |
