Learning outcomes |
In this course unit it is intended that students learn to search, organize and disseminate scientific knowledge. It is also intended that students acquire the ability to conceive, design, adapt and perform research in Paper Engineering.
At the end of the course unit students should be able to identify the main sources of scientific information in the field of Paper Engineering. Perform a literature search in scientific databases and to interpret the results. Identify the specific characteristics of different forms of dissemination of scientific knowledge. Analyze, evaluate and synthesize new and complex ideas. Characterize the steps that a scientific paper undergoes until its publication. Outline the criteria for choosing a journal for publication of a scientific article. Show competence in oral and written communication.

Syllabus |
Experimental design. Search and use of bibliographic references. Sources of scientific information in Paper engineering and engineering sciences and bibliographic search. Use of computer tools in information searching, in the handling of scientific data and in its organization. Usefulness of impact factor and other bibliometric indices.
