Learning outcomes It is intended that students get in-depth training in psychology of human sexuality and the related theoretical and interventional frameworks; work on key issues in human sexuality, sexual health and sex education; consider sexual diversity in its historical and social dimensions; understand the main problems of a sexual nature, diagnostic criteria and respective therapeutic applications. Also is intended that students develop the following skills: to be able to describe and discuss the theoretical and interventional contributions of psychology of human sexuality; they are able to understand and apply the major sexological intervention techniques for the treatment of sexual dysfunctions; and are able to integrate the principles of sexuality and clinical sexology to contemporary needs within the work of the clinical and health psychologist.
Syllabus Part 1 (Human Sexuality): Historical perspective of sexuality; Psychobiological foundations of sexuality; The sexual response cycle and expression; Sexual identity; Behavior, attraction, development and sexuality; Paraphilias and disorders of gender identity; Sexual minorities; Sexual and reproductive health; Research in human sexuality.
Part 2 (Clinical Sexology): The male and female sexual dysfunctions, and respective treatments; Training intervention skills in clinical sexology.
