Learning outcomes The main objective of this curricular unit is to continue the development of an original thesis within the scientific domain of Mathematics, with relevant applications to other disciplinary areas. This is the second curricular unit "Thesis in Mathematics and Applications" (out of three). It is undertaken during the second academic year of the course, it operates under a tutorial supervision model involving the guidance from the designated supervisor(s).
The work developed will support and guide the research activities to be carried out in the subsequent curricular units.

Syllabus The syllabus is defined by encompassing a range of interconnected themes closely related to the innovative mathematical problems that the thesis seeks to address. These must focus on the specific research topic already proposed, now already validated by the Scientific Committee of the 3rd Cycle Program in Mathematics and Applications (that is, officially proposed by the Scientific Committee to the Scientific Council of the Faculty of Sciences).
Main Bibliography Key scientific publications in the field of Mathematics that provide the essential foundation for the proposed research work.
Teaching Methodologies and Assessment Criteria Final credit for the curricular unit is granted at the end of the academic year, contingent upon the recommendation of the student’s advisor(s).
Language Portuguese. Tutorial support is available in English.
