Learning outcomes |
The objectives of the curricular unit are: 1. To ensure a sound preparation in all a reas of physics integrating the basic training required for a rigorous practice of the teaching profession; 2. To supplement this minim al training, not only in terms of theory and understanding of nature, but also with regard to the real importance of the applications of physics in everyday contemporary life, knowledge leading to a more informative, motivating and integrated teaching activity; 3. To provide instruction on expanding and continually u pdating of this knowledge. At the end of the curricular unit the student should show: 1. The required progress and fluency in the subjects deemed necessary for fulfillment of their initial training; 2. An understanding of the relevance and applications of this science; 3. A capacity for independent progress.

Syllabus |
In view of some diversity in the preparatory training of students, the emphasis of this complementary training will also be differentiated. Subjects primarily in the areas of Mechanics, Electricity & Magnetism, and Modern Physics, will be taught in strict accordance with the real needs revealed by the student, with emphasis on both knowledge of the fundamental principles and of their importance for understanding applications to science and contemporary technology. Choice of a topic relevant in basic and secondary education to explore towards a deeper understanding of the underlying principles, including a study of the implications for understanding nature and uses in science and technology.

Teaching Methodologies and Assessment Criteria |
The teaching methodology is student-centered, in order to coordinate their independent work with the help of the teaching team. Assessment has a continuous component, in the form of short activities (problem-solving, analysis and discussion of texts, videos and physics applets) that will be proposed to students throughout the semester, and is complemented by a more in-depth written work, on a physics topic proposed by the teacher, to be completed at the end of the semester.
