Learning outcomes With this curricular unit we intend to discuss th e guidelines of current educational policies in the context of
globalization, transnationalization and territorialization and to analyze the Portuguese educational reality considering
these trends.
At the end of this curricular unit, the student must be able to
1. understand the current educational policies in the light of the contexts of globalization, transnationalization and
policies of territorial / local level;
2. interpret the legal framework th at regulates the current Portuguese educational system;
3. analyze relevant research in the field of Educational Policies and Organization of Educat ion;
4. express ideas in a reasoned manner, drawing on oral and written communication;
5. develop collaborative skills;
6. assume the responsibility for his/her learning.
Syllabus 1. Introduction to the concept of Educational Policy, meaning and framing;
2. Horizon of current educational policies: Globalization and Transnationali zation of Education;
3. European Policy and Global Education: Guidelines and actors;
4. Organization and structure of the current Portuguese education al system. The school reform administration: The
autonomy of schools, the organization and curriculum management; The educational evaluation; The inclusive school;
educational support and diferentiation; Education and training for youth and adults; The status of the teaching
profession and teacher professionalism

Teaching Methodologies and Assessment Criteria 1. Two essays concerning points 1 and 2 of the program (individually or in groups of up to 2 elements): 40% 2. Presentation of one of the topics listed in the third point of the program, (although the presentation will be made in groups (2/3 elements) an individual grade will be given, taking into account the performance of each group member): 60%
