Learning outcomes |
This course unit aims to develop in students the ability to work and research autonomously, linking the knowledge acquired in different UCs and its application in new contexts, either through the realization of an individual scientific research project or through the realization of a Dissertation or an internship in a company.
At the end of this unit the student should be able to:
- Outline an investigation strategy to address a particular problem, choosing the most appropriate tools for the purposes to be achieved and draw relevant conclusions and recommendations based on the results obtained;
- Research, analysis, organize, discuss and transmit information, orally or in writing, on a specific topic in the area of biotechnology;
- Apply the capacity for problem solving and mathematical and critical thinking in the analysis of new problems, proposal of solutions and decision making;
- Work according to ethical principles.

Syllabus |
The syllabus contents of this Course are defined between the supervisor and the student according to the established work plan, under the coordination of the Course Director and the Course Commission for the 2nd cycle of Biotechnology. It is intended that the proposed theme in the area of Biotechnology, of a fundamental or applied nature, developed at the University and / or in partnership with companies or public and private research centers allows the development of initiative, autonomy and multidisciplinary skills in the students under the guidance of a professor.
Following the work developed, preparation and oral presentation of a dissertation, research project or an internship report, according to the rules established for the granting of a Master's degree in Biotechnology.
