Learning outcomes |
This course aims to encourage reflection on ethical issues associated with ecology and environmental philosophy.
At the end of the UC, students should be able to: identify the distinguishing elements of different ecologically relevant ethical paradigms; discuss the merits and limitations of each of the paradigms.
|
Syllabus |
Module 1 1. From ecological anthropocentrism to deep ecology. 2. from ecology to ecosophy: the proposal of Arne Naess. 3. Ecofeminist perspectives.
Module 2 In the trail of the new materialism, this module seeks to illuminate the profound link between matter and otherness as a way of instructing a practical ecological reason that overcomes anthropocentrism. A critique of the conception of matter capable of liberating its relational potency would have far-reaching consequences for the understanding and everyday life of ecological coexistence.

Teaching Methodologies and Assessment Criteria |
The methodology corresponds to seminar work: there will be previous reading and study of the texts, joint and in-depth rereading of excerpts, oral presentations, critical and reflective commentary, either personal or based on secondary authors. The evaluation is done through a written work of individual research on a topic within the general scope of the Seminar, with presentation in class.
