Learning outcomes |
This Curricular Unit has the following objectives:
- Apply and integrate the knowledge acquired in different curricular units;
- Develop a scientific research project independently;
- Write a master's thesis or an internship report.
At the end of this Curricular Unit, the student should be able to:
1. Evaluate and solve problems within the scope of the activity developed.
2. Make decisions.
3. Contribute to a culture of quality.
4. Investigate, organize, and communicate information in their field of expertise.
5. Develop interpersonal relationship skills.
6. Recognize their limitations and the need for self-learning to acquire new knowledge.

Syllabus |
The syllabus is defined between the supervisor and the student according to the established work plan, subject to the approval of the Course Director and the 2nd Cycle Course Committee. The proposed topic should allow the development of autonomy, multidisciplinary skills, communication, critical thinking, and teamwork, through the completion of a work plan in the field of Biomedical Sciences, either fundamental or applied, carried out at the University and/or in collaboration with companies or laboratories, under the guidance of a professor or specialist in the area. The completion of the work plan culminates in the elaboration, presentation, and public discussion of a thesis or internship report.

Teaching Methodologies and Assessment Criteria |
During the academic year, students will make an interim presentation to the 2nd cycle Course Committee on the theme, objectives, and work developed. This presentation will enable to monitor the progress of the work and propose support measures that will contribute to the quality and success of the proposed work plan.
The assessment of this Curricular Unit includes public examinations where the following points are evaluated:
- Scientific/technical quality of the thesis or internship report: - Clarity and quality of writing; - Structure of the document; - Originality and relevance of the problem/project addressed, methodologies used, and solutions proposed; - Scientific rigor; - Critical analysis of the solutions proposed and the results obtained; - Contribution of the results to the state of the art.
- Presentation and public dicussion of the work developed within the scope of the CU Thesis/Internship.
