Learning outcomes	Contribute to the comprehensive training of pharmacy professionals providing them with knowledge and skills that enables them to develop a sociological understanding of health, illness and of their own professional practice. By the end of the CU students should be able to: Discuss the contributions of the sociological perspective of health and illness Analyze the impact of socio-cultural factors on health and illness Criticize the biomedical model Understand the social construction of illness and how it influences the illness experience Discuss the medicalization of life and describe its social implications Draw the relationship between medicalization and the use of medications in society Identify the impacts of social change on the profession Understand the importance of behaviors, emotions and lifestyles in health and illness Know the instruments and strategies for brief counseling Apply some of these instruments and strategies for brief counseling
