Amélia Augusto has a PhD in Sociology, is an Associate Professor at the Department of Sociology of the University of Beira Interior and researcher at the Centre for Research and Studies in Sociology, ISCTE, Lisbon. At the moment, she is also Vice-Rector for Quality, Social Responsibility and Social Action of University of Beira Interior.
She has coordinated and lectured courses in the scientific area of sociology of health and illness to study cycles in sociology and to study cycles in health sciences, collaborating in this field with several institutions of higher education. She has supervised master''s and doctorate thesis in the area of sociology of health and illness, gender sociology, domestic violence. Her publication has been carried out in the form of book chapters and articles, national and international. She was coordinator of the Health Sociology Section of the Portuguese Sociological Association between 2014-2023Her research interests are related to Sociology of Health and Illness; Infertility and NRT; Gender Sociology; Gender based violence; qualitative methodologies.
