Learning outcomes |
In this Curricular Unit (UC) it is intended that the student understands the importance of logistics, whether from a macroeconomic perspective, or at a more entrepreneurial level and knows how to identify some tools to support decision making in a logistical context. In particular, the student must know the reality of logistics in contemporary organizations, as well as its contribution to the growing trend of e-commerce. The student must also know the importance of an adequate supply chain management to fulfil logistical objectives and the consequent provision of a value-creating service to the customer and that is simultaneously profitable for the company. Finally, students should be able to recognize logistical issues and options in the context of information systems management, transport management and warehouse management. In terms of specific skills, students should understand the importance of logistics for the development of the country and companies.

Teaching Methodologies and Assessment Criteria |
The classes tend to be expository classes on the different points of the program, with privilege for the formal exposition of theoretical and practical contents. This didactic is related, among other factors, to the search for effectiveness and efficiency in the transmission and acquisition of knowledge, in critical reflection and in creating conditions for the discussion, sharing and application of concepts and ideas. At the beginning, the syllabus will be approached and several practical examples will be presented; in the final part, students will prepare a Case Study that will be presented in the classroom.
Evaluation criteria
The continuous assessment regime includes two assessment components:
i) Case Study (group work with 3 to 4 elements) - Presentations on 15 December and 3 and 5 January. Delivery by January 7, 2021 [50%]
ii) Written test (2nd week of January - will be scheduled by the course director) [50%]
