Learning outcomes The aim of this course is for students to understand the importance of logistics, both from a macroeconomic and business perspective, and to be able to identify tools to support decision-making in a logistics context. In particular, the student should know the reality of logistics in contemporary organizations, as well as its contribution to the growing trend of e-commerce. Students should also be aware of the importance of proper supply chain management in meeting logistics objectives and consequently providing a service that creates value for the customer and is also profitable for the company. Finally, students should be able to recognize logistics issues and options in the context of managing information systems, transport and storage. In terms of specific skills, students should understand the importance of logistics for the development of the country and companies.

Teaching Methodologies and Assessment Criteria The classes tend to be expository classes on the different points of the program, with privilege for the
formal exposition of theoretical and practical contents. This didactic is related, among other factors, to the
search for effectiveness and efficiency in the transmission and acquisition of knowledge, in critical
reflection and in creating conditions for the discussion, sharing and application of concepts and ideas. At
the beginning, the syllabus will be approached and several practical examples will be presented; in the
final part, students will prepare a Case Study that will be presented in the classroom.
Evaluation criteria
The continuous assessment regime includes two assessment components:
i) Case Study (group work with 3 to 4 elements) - Presentations on 17 December and 6 and 7 January.
Delivery by January 7, 2021 [40%]
ii) Written test (2nd week of January - will be scheduled by the course director) [60%]
Language Portuguese. Tutorial support is available in English.
