Learning outcomes This UC aims to teach students the foundations of international negotiation, decision-making mechanisms in foreign policy, as well as the foundations of the diplomatic institution, addressing its functions and its exercise.

It also intends to foster the ability to analyze the decisions made by the various actors in the field of negotiating in the various negotiating and diplomatic frameworks.
Simultaneously, it seeks to analyze the challenges of international negotiation and diplomatic practice in a changing world.

Teaching Methodologies and Assessment Criteria The program content is initially presented in the form of lectures (expository teaching) aimed at providing students with theoretical concepts and knowledge on the topics specified in the programs.

In the first moment, case studies are given to illustrate the topics taught, followed by a discussion.

Secondly, a laboratory is developed for the analysis of scientific articles (practical classes), which are presented and critically discussed by the students.

Evaluation:

Test – 50% [10 points]
Article Lab: Review/presentation/debate/participation 50% [10 points]

Erasmus students: Presentation of a paper (50%) and final essay (50%
Language Portuguese. Tutorial support is available in English.
