Learning outcomes The importance of the concept and of a project methodology for the definition and realization of the architectural object.
To understand the Construction in its architectural aspect, sensitizing the engineering to the artistic, historical, social and cultural dimensions of the Architecture Project.
A wall is not just an object built, only for tectonic purpose! In architecture, a wall, like any other element, has functions that transcend the principles of physics and the resistance of materials.
It seeks to sensitize Engineering to the logics and concepts that Architecture attributes to buildings - The idea constructed - positioning, in this way, Architecture beyond the inert and static construction.
This curricular unit aims to sensitize the student to a more careful reading of the architecture project, stimulating relationships and challenging work options between Architecture and Engineering.
Syllabus Construction and Architectural Design subject is divided into two parts, the Process and the Tectonics, with 7 and 8 hours each, respectively.
Part 1 – The Process:
- Design methodology as a fundamental tool for the final result;
- The relation between concept/idea and construction;
- Topos, type and symbolic;
- Several moments of architectural history as epistemological sections; - Paradigmatic examples of architects and buildings along with history.
Part 2 – The Tectonics:
- The necessity of an architecture. Brief facts history; - What is Architectural Design? Which function?
- The constructed ideal is eternal;
- Architectural Designs readings;
- The roles of Engineering and Architecture regarding construction.
