Learning outcomes - Know the main roots, foundations, matrices, moments and historical figures of contemporary occidental thought;
- Know and understand the main questions and challenges facing contemporary thought;
- Be capable of thinking critically about the main problems that are fundamental to contemporary thought;
Syllabus 1. The roots and context of Contemporary Thought; 2. Main metaphysical, epistemological, ethical and political proposals: - From the critique of Metaphysics: the problem of the death of God; - the proposal for a critical metaphysics; - the paradox of incomprehensible freedom; - nihilism, truth-utility, will to power and perspectivism; - alterity, strangeness and otherness; critique of onto-theology; - the age of emptiness, the information age, economic globalization, and populism in the empire of the ephemeral: the time of a world-culture; the commodification of art; the aestheticization of politics

Teaching Methodologies and Assessment Criteria The course will consist of theoretical-practical classes, combining lectures by the instructor with guided work and discussion by students, as well as tutorial guidance sessions aimed at providing closer support and deepening the topics they consider necessary. Assessment will be based on two written tests, each accounting for 45% of the final grade, and active participation, which will contribute 10% to the final grade.
