The Curricular Unit "New Practices in Architecture" proposes a reflection on the contemporary process(es) in architecture through the various ways of "doing" architecture and "being" an architect.
Between theory and practice - each student's individual sense of identity will be emphasised in order to instigate reflection on the reality of the various possible paths in the disciplinary practice of Architecture, but also, and essentially, new ways of provoking the "project" and the themes that are most pertinent and/or experimental at the time will be promoted. The formalisation of this imaginary will take place in the creation of a prospective exercise on the future that illustrates and identifies the tools for individual understanding of emerging concepts in architectural practice, iconographic methods of investigation and discovery, visual and graphic knowledge of what surrounds the disciplinary field of Architecture. No prerequisites apply.

Learning outcomes |
New Architecture Practices is a unit that aims to find the critical tools to innovate the discourse on the practice of architecture, with a greater commitment to repairing the discipline itself, the city and the environment. Through debate and the sharing of references that dismantle preconceived ideas and canons, and by giving space to the exploration of emerging themes, various architectural practices, or agents of knowledge production in architecture, are called upon to contribute to rethinking contemporary discourse with a view to a better future. The syllabus aims to deepen knowledge of some of the movements in contemporary architecture in terms of various social, political and cultural contexts, covering a broader professional practice in a propositional logic.
