Learning outcomes The curricular unit of Architectural and Urban Rehabilitation aims to impart specific theoretical and practical knowledge in the field of rehabilitation and reuse of buildings. The following ompetencies will be developed in this curricular unit:

a) Understanding the concepts of Architectural and Urban Rehabilitation.

b) Understanding intervention criteria and strategies hierarchy.

c) Knowledge of the regulatory framework: legal methods and standards for architectural heritage inventory andclassification.

d) Domain on methodologies, procedures and techniques for the evaluation of buildings and architectural ensembles.

e) Domain on research and analysis in Architectural and Urban Rehabilitation.

f) Recognition of the integrated vision and need for compatibility in Architectural and Urban Rehabilitation.

Syllabus 1) Concepts and methodologies on architectural and urban rehabilitation.

2) Hierarchy of intervention criteria and strategies.

3) Regulatory framework: legal methods and standards for architectural heritage inventory and classification.

4) Methodologies, procedures and techniques for evaluating buildings and architectural ensembles.

5) Research and systematization resources on historical and heritage buildings (treatment, archiving, analysis and dissemination of data with geo-referencing).

6) Architectural and constructive rehabilitation: integrated vision and need for compatibilization.

7) Re-use and functional re-adaptation.

8) Strategies for intervention based on practical case studies.

Teaching Methodologies and Assessment Criteria This unit has a duration of 1 academic semester, involving 60h of contact in classes. The approval of this course unit gives the student 5ECTS credits. The contact hours are organized with presentation of theoretical-practical classes(TP), with exposure of the syllabus and were the concepts and ideas underlying the syllabus contents are discussed.
