Code 15232
Year 4
Semester S2
ECTS Credits 10
Workload OT(30H)/TP(150H)
Scientific area Arquitetura
Entry requirements The course has no prerequisites, but it assumes that students have successfully completed the Project courses in previous years.
Learning outcomes Establishing our own methodology and an individual process that adapts naturally to each student. Establishing differences, allowing for constant heterogeneity that leads to homogeneity in terms of participation and the development of each piece of work.
Promote a spirit of research, participation and confrontation of ideas at both a theoretical and practical (project) level.
Promote theoretical debate on the main architectural movements and currents, trying to position students in the face of dogmas, paradigms and the vicissitudes of the times, societies and respective contexts. To analyse, debate and confront the various positions on architecture.
Predispose students to different and complex situations, promoting a spontaneous approach and their creative potential, encouraging them to come up with a balanced proposal taking into account the legislation and technical aspects of the proposed exercises.
To alert the student to ecological and construction problems.
Syllabus The various scales of representation as the implication of new relationships of a topological, typological and tectonic nature; detail as the basis for responding to premises through the combination of all specialities.
Reflection from the macro scale; the potential of public space as an energy for a pleasant, dynamic and creative environment.
Theoretical and practical concepts on the various phases and moments of architectural design. Methodology and the creation of a valid design process to meet the demands of the programmes and technical solutions proposed.
The position adopted with regard to sustainability, ecology and energy should not be dogmatic or radical; it should be based on principles of balance, taking into account the characteristics of the site, the client, the programme and the intended construction.
Means and methods for analysing, reading and representing spaces, whether architectural or technical. Notions of programme, infrastructure, scale, user.
