Entry requirements The Curricular Unit has no entry requirements, however it assumes that students successfully attended the Architectural Design Curricular Units of the previous years.
Learning outcomes The aim is determined in the theoretical and handling understanding of the instruments fundamental to the practice of contemporary Urban design through the perception surrounding contemporary architecture´s cultural flow. Research, synthesis and creative experimentation is promoted, in this last year, by responding to a "real" request with a high level of disciplinary complexity, conceptual and programmatic, focused on the architectural "built form", since the urban scale, until the "object" and the rehabilitation scale and their respective formal concretization.
Issues and methodologies studies facilitate proposed interventions in urban realities promoting the architectural idealization that extends the relationship of experiential spaces of the city. Approach that appeals to the design tools and content relating them in the first semester to an approach in extension and definition of a sector for a spatial and formal materialization.
Syllabus The focus is on the design of Urban Project design basic themes: urban design and redevelopment of public space, building of new "objects" inserted in a changing context and rehabilitation of existing structures.
The area of insertion, also an element of design, seeks to question the problematic in order to articulate and establish the confrontation of different scales and design problems, from the general to the particular and vice versa .
Therefore the "built form" and contemporary design project methodologies are present in all stages of the design approaches .
One long-term project is developed and has two purposes: 1 º Urban design project as an understanding of the urban intervention strategies to investigate the phenomenon as a whole; 2nd the creation of the unique and complex theme that demands reflection on the specific programmatic thematic,( concentrted on facilities programs) developed within its - morphology, spacial and and formal materialization correspondence.

Teaching Methodologies and Assessment Criteria The pedagogy will focus on three interrelated components:
Classes on program themes and contents, and framing of different phases of practical project exercises;
Practical project exercises defined in the course program and outlined for the semester, with stages of increasing complexity based on predefined objectives;
Critical follow-up classes of the different phases of the practical project exercise – presentation and critical discussion in class and tutorial support.
Assessment:
Continuous and in-person assessment, without exame, and with 75% of presences ai mandatory. The communication of qualitative grades are assigned at the end of each project phase and after presencial presentation and submission of the works;
At the end of the semester, an evaluation of the work produced is conducted, which will have a final classification assessed equitably among the students who developed this program.
Language Portuguese. Tutorial support is available in English.
