Learning outcomes This course is intended to study the energy efficiency in buildings and the home automation. It is intended that the student have the ability to integrate this knowledge to deal with complex situations in buildings. At the end of the course the student should be able to: apply knowledge of energy efficiency in buildings and home automation; identify and solve energy efficiency problems in buildings; design of home automation solutions; carry out computer based tasks using buildings thermal performance codes.
Syllabus 1. Energy in buildings: energy efficiency; rational use of energy.; energy efficiency and energy intensity indicators; thermal characterization of the buildings envelope; environment and comfort in buildings; regulation.
2. Home automation: introduction to home automation; applications areas and key benefits; functions and services; fields of specific application; architecture of automation systems; home automation technologies.
3.Introduction to Home automation. Systems integration. Applications areas and key benefits. functions and services. The Security Systems, multimedia systems and automation systems. Sensors and actuators. Home automation technologies.
