Learning outcomes |
In this course unit is intended that the student acquire knowledge concerning the design of machines, mechanisms and mechanical elements used in industrial applications and services, acquire an attitude of synthesis of knowledge applied to mechanical elements study. Acquisition of skills in the basic concepts about theory, operation and applications of mechanical components used in industrial applications and services. Ability to use fundamental knowledge complemented with new approaches and theories to investigate and solve technological problems with current techniques. Acquisition of skills which provide the ability to select, develop, conceive and design the mechanical elements, mechanisms and machines. Ability to apply this knowledge, integrating them: - in solving more routine or exceptional design problems; - developing solutions (formulating hypotheses and testing them).

Teaching Methodologies and Assessment Criteria |
The teaching methodology in this UC is composed, on one hand, by the exposition of theoretical contents, approached in the theoretical classes, with support of audiovisual resources that are made available to students through Moodle. On the other hand, in practical theoretical classes, exercises related to theoretical matters are carried out, applied to concrete examples of machine elements dimensioning. The exercises are also available to students through Moodle. Students will be evaluated through partial tests, where they will calculate a mechanism using the theory taught in the classroom.
