UC consists of two modules:
Module 1 – Thermal Energy Systems deepen the concepts of applied thermodynamics for the energy and economic analysis of industrial thermal energy production systems. Economic analysis of energy efficiency projects will be conducted. Students should become familiar with the main components and be able to describe and analyze processes in steam turbine power plants, gas turbines, and combined cycles. Additionally, they will explore cogeneration technologies and calculate their performance parameters.
Module 2 – Electrical Energy Systems This module focuses on acquiring knowledge about the production, transmission, and distribution of electrical energy from a modern sustainable development perspective. Competencies include: identifying energy sources and discussing their importance; understanding energy conversion processes (both renewable and non-renewable); and recognizing the organizational structures of the electricity market.
