Learning outcomes	This course analyses the American area via theoretical approaches from International Relations, in particular geopolitics and strategic studies. By the end of the course, students should be able to: 1. Understand the geopolitical dynamics of the American continent; 2. Conceptualize the American space in its connections with the rest of the globe; 3. Acquire the skills to produce and communicate scientific knowledge.
Syllabus	1. Geography of the American Space; 2. USA: 2.1. US History; 2.2. American domestic politics; 2.3. North American foreign policy until the end of the Cold War; 2.4. North American foreign policy in the post-Cold War; 2.5. Case study: he Iraq War (2003-2011); 3. Latin America: 3.1. History and geography of Latin America; 3.2. Political systems in Latin America; 3.3. Regional dynamics in Latin America.
